Bonding with Seniors on a Rickshaw Ride
Cycling Without Age (CWA) is a wonderful initiative launched by Ole Kassow, from Denmark, to make elders happy, healthy, active, and feel included in society. The organization aims to provide fun and happiness to the seniors, in the form of free volunteer-supported trishaw/ cycle rickshaw/bike-taxi rides. Volunteers, known as pilots sign up for these free trishaw rides with the seniors in their local community. As the elders step out in the open air, they talk, laugh, sing, cry, get mischievous, and feel happy. Meet our beloved senior Mrs. Meenu Dasgupta, who turns 92 on 21st October 2019. To celebrate this wonderful occasion, her daughter Sanghamitra shares few lines with us. The word ‘mother’ itself evokes a special feeling in everyone which is beyond explanation. I am no exception. On the 21st of this month, my mother, Mrs. Meenu Dasgupta, is going to celebrate her 92nd birthday. Transcription of Prescription
A year back, during a trip to my mother’s place in Kolkata, India, I found a neatly folded bag in her cupboard. It had empty sachets of her regular medicines and a handwritten note of the timings for taking them. She explained to me that she could not understand her prescription. Hence, she used her notes and kept the empty sachets, which proved useful when she needed to re-order her medicines.
